Does anyone in the Fairfax/Reston/Chantilly areas of northern Virginia know of any quality, kind of long(5-10-15 miles), running routes/trails that are off road?

    thanks

    Trance,

Here is a link to the WO&D trail.

    http://www.bikewashington.org/trails/wad/wad2.htm

That page shows you the Vienna to Reston map.  Navigation in the lower sections of the page take you to different mile maps Google the WO&D and you'll find better maps, I think.  I know there is a better one out there, I just can't find it.

It is an old rail converted to path and is not that hilly towards the 3 - 5 mile markers I run.  I am not sure what the trail does up in the higher mile ranges.

I have found it to be a good trail to run and as it has 34 miles to choose from, and is pretty safe, I find it to be quite enjoyable.  Not to mention the wildlife around the pavement I pound.

Bull Run is a good one, also you might find the Inter county connector trail a good option, or the Difficult Run trail (named after the creek, not a comment on the difficulty) near Great Falls.

Burke Lake is a good one - all gravel... But i would say WOD all day.
