The owner of my local running shop told me about these shirts. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering  if anyone has any experience with them, and if so, what are your thoughts? Does the warming property diminish after washing? Is it worth the money? Mind you, I live in Mid-Michigan, where the winters get pretty cold. Thanks for any input

    They are pretty sweet really.

I've had the pants for about a year now and they are still pretty good.

I just got one of the tops about a month or so ago, and haven't had that much cold weather to use it in. From what I've noticed it is really warm.

    A few caveats:

1.) I live in southern Indiana. I never wear running pants unless it is under 20 degrees. These last few years, its been pretty mild during the winter so I haven't needed to use the pants.

2.) The coldest run I've had so far was in about 28-30 degree weather with the breath thermo top. The top was the only thing I was wearing, but it was pretty warm.

I was told (by my boss - a running store owner) that it preserves the breath thermo material if you just wash it regularly, and then let it air dry.

My experience has been positive so far. I'm not sure I would say it warrants the high price, but if you can get it on sale, then it would probably be a steal.

Actually, I just bought mine on sale ($35), which is comparable to the price of a regular tech fabric shirt. I am excited to try it out. today is an off day, but tomorrow, it's supposed to be 20 degrees here.

My Breath Thermo shirt is great!!! I ran today (15 degrees, 7 degree wind chill), and actually got toasty. I had my breath Thermo, a light fleece vest, and a Mizuno windbreaker. I wound up taking off the windbreaker after about 1 mile and unzipping my fleece for about half a mile. As soon as I started to sweat, I felt a brief chill, then immediately warmed up. It was great. I'd recommend these shirts to anyone. My wife also bought one and said it worked well (and she is always cold during the winter).

    Dan-
I work for Mizuno and these breath thermo pieces are the most popular pieces of apparel we have ever sold.  I work in the golf division, so I have a closet full of these things.  I have some that are 3+ years old that I wear exclusively for running, and they still work just like when they were new (too bad they don't look newSmile).
I live in upstate NY, so my climate is similar to yours.  I wear them anytime the temp is below freezing.  What else I wear just depends on how cold it is outside.  I found that, for me, these work best with a layer over them.  They wick moisture away from your body, but the moisture stays in the fabric (to be turned to heat - hence the "thermo" part).  In running, with the wind, they get a little chilly.  in conjunction with another shirt or windbreaker over it, it is a perfect under layer.
KDogg is correct about washing them...  Machine wash and hang dry.
    Hope this helps...  Happy trails.

I was talking to the Mizuno rep the other day and he was showing me some apparel for the spring. They have a breath thermo top that is coated with a wind breaker like material.

Talk about an awesome top! The only problem is that it costs ~140 dollars. Ugh

    Hey all,

New here (but not to running).

I've got to chime in on the Mizuno. Awesome. I freeze my posterior off in NE NJ, and the Mizuno shirt is far and away better than the Under Armor. However, I also have the Under Armor running pants and they are fantastic.

IMO the Mizuno shirt is great. A solid buy.

    KDogg-
I have that jacket-  it is solid.  Almost too nice to wear for running.

Thanks to all who have given input. I got my hands on a pair of gloves (or maybe I got some gloves on my hands? :}), and a shirt. I love them, they even work in our sub-zero windchills here in MI. Yeags, any shot at you being able to give a discount? just kidding :}  Thanks again for the input.
