Help!: How to set starting point?

I'm not sure how to set my starting point. For example, I have a 4-mile loop route set up. While I am clicking to mark turns in the route, the software automatically adds points 1, 2, and 3. Then, when I go to print, the map starts at point 1. But point 1 is not at the beginning of my route. I'm not sure how the software determines when to add these points or how to edit them. The printout is confusing, as it starts in the middle of my route. Am I missing something obvious?
