My walking routes are from 2.5 to 3.5 miles depending on which I decide to do, I do that pretty much all but two days a week.

I will start the challenge tomorrow. Walking is normally fun. I've just got to remember to do it. I think I could probably get 2 miles per day. I may alternate with bicycling though, so I think I can realistically take 3-4 days per week and walk 3-4 miles.

    Anyway, I think that's doable.Kiss

I basically plan my mileage according to the actual time I have for running.  My monthly plan has yet to be accomplished; because once you add in work and family... time seems to be pulled away.  But  on each of my running days, I know how much time I can run, one hour, forty minutes, eighty minutes.  I do try to run all 5 days that I plan on.  And so far January has been good to me!  Keep running!

Hi I've been posting my walks for over a year in mapmywalk, com, I've also been trying to see about anybody else walking without results until today. I walk anywhere between 8 and 10 miles daily. no weekends, but lately I have problems with my right foot hurting, So, I walk 3 days, rest 4 using bengay the rest of the day and/or salon passes. Does anyone know a sports doctor?, Kaiser doesn't do much for me. I have bought new shoes and new orthodics (the insoles that go in your shoe. Anyway HI TO ALL glad I meet people that walk like me

I just joined MapMyWalk today.  I'm participating in the Komen 3-day Walk in October.  I'll be walking a total of 60 miles over the course of 3 days.  I just got in from a 4.3 mile walk.  I figure that it isn't too early to start training!  I did need a pair of gloves and ear muffs although once I started walking, it really wasn't that cold.  I think I'll jump on my stationary bike later today and put in an hour.  Nice site!  I hope it helps to keep me inspired!Laughing

I walk when I can for a minimum of 30 minutes, though some of my walks go about 45-50 minutes.  I try to walk when it will not take away from family time, so that means early morning or after the kids leave for school and before i need to be at work.

I did 11.2 miles (walk)today, every street in my neighborhoog whithin a half a mile in each direction, got wet a couple of times, had a turtleneck under my jogging suit, it took me 2:45 / I got tired and made it home as it started to rain much harder. Rest during the weekend

Good luck to all. Keep it up - QuecaWink

Hello, I'm Jayel. I joined Maymyrun.com 8 months ago when I stopped smoking. I run/walk weekdays-4 miles each day. I have a hard time resting because when I rest I think of smoking.  I don't think I could do a whole marathon in one day. I think this will help me get ready to finally do one someday.

    Thanks

I just started walking seriously about two weeks ago and started mapping my walks on March 1.

I have set the goal of 10,000 steps a day which is about 5 miles and have been surprised how doable it is. I live on a  lake which is about 2 miles around and part of that 10,000 most days is a walk at 129 steps a minute around the lake.

You know, for a 64 year old I am really excited that I have been able to start at this level and find that it has really been a confidence builder.

Since the first (in six days) I have logged 26 miles which is unbelievable to me...  You can teach an old dog new tricks!!!

    Off and walking!!!

TO: Spike LikesWink I've been walking for a year+, sometimes when I get hurt or tired I stop for 2 months at the time like after the 1/2 Nike marathon in SF. But I started again Jan 2 and I have done over 300 miles. I am Going to Spain in May so I know I'm eating and drinking there... so, I do walk 5 days a week about 10 to 12 miles a day averaging about 14.35minutes per mile. Hope it helps getting more excited about walking. Good luck

    G'Day from Downunder!

I joined Mapmywalk at the end of Jan and have been trying to walk most days. I am going on a cruise around the Pacific Islands in October and need to lose some weight before then.

I was given an Ipod for Christmas and find that by putting on some great music to walk to I have a better workout.  I sure hope I can do this!

My work started a walking group on March 11 and so far I am the only one that has not missed a day walking except for yesterday because of the rain but instead I did the stairs.  We walk 1.93 miles a day or 30 minutes.  Some days there are two us and some days there are five of us.  It really helps that afternoon slump and it is just nice getting out of the office for a while.

Hi Everyone.  I am new here.  Just joined today and plan on starting training on Monday.  I find that with two small children whom I homeschool and keeping up with the house that training is a challenge sometimes.  I try to get up in the morning and do it before 7am. but that doesn't always work.  Any suggestions?

I am trying to train to actually run one of these things next mother's day but everytime I try to run I get HORRIBLE shine splints and knee pain.  So I thought starting out slowly might help that :).  Aldiara88, good luck to you!  I'll be believing with you to complete you 1/2 marathon.

Starting 7/5 - live on a golf course, ideal walking course - early a.m. or late p.m.  I try to walk about 2 mi each day of walking.  rjb:  you log your walks by mapping them and then adding them to your log i think - through "mapmyfitness" tool.

Starting again! It's so hot here in the high desert! Wish I had someone to walk or ride with! But no one seems to be around in the am! I would like to walk a half marathon or the whole thing in Long Beach this October 2008! Hope to see you there! Be good to yourselves!

i came so close to completing this challenge before and then got sidetracked by a job transfer!  now i'm settled in and looking forward to doing this challenge again and completing it!!  this is a good way to get me back on track after a month of of settling in!  it will also help get me going so when i join a gym for the winter months, i can start doing my intermittent jogging training to do my first 5K marathon this summer :)
