I mix creatine into a recovery shake to help recovery.  Protein is also good for recovery.  From what I've read whey is better than soy, but I'm sure that is debatable.

For me, after a long run, i just be sure to consume some carbs and protein within 1-2 hours.  When you exercise, all you really need is carbs and/or protein to help your body recover faster and for your muscles to come back even stronger.

The research is pretty clear on this one.  Creatine offers no advantage to the endurance athlete for recovery, speed, or endurance.  In fact, it may have many disadvantages.  Good old carbs and protein.  Mostly carbs.

Just did a small paper on effects of creatine. Endurance athletes do not benefit from its effects. It does not help the muscles recover faster. It increases creatine levels in the muscles, which are used only in short, explosive movements, i.e. sprints, weight lifting. Stick to carbs and protein to see the best results.
