I have a goal of running across a province, but don't know how to go about mapping a safe route.  I have tried searching on the internet but cant find anything.  Any tips?

Thats not something one would attempt on a regular basis! Have you tried the Nike+ website.

     Best of luck!

You could try parts of the Trans Canada Trail

Well you could run across PEI to start, I've heard you could bike around it in a day...  Work your way up to Saskatchewan, maybe southern Alberta and when you had a year you could then try Ontario!

Probably the only real way to go would be to follow a major highway and face the traffic.

Seriously, PEI does offer the Confederation Trail - 279 Km from tip to tip. Good crusher gravel surface, no traffic and plenty of towns/services along the way so it is easy to plan an itenerary.

Although the Condederation Trail might not have existed in 1988; I came across the trip distance and city/town points as Ron Dossenbach cycled from vancouver to Halifax for a total of 5966 KM. Might be much for a individual to log that much running; but will help out a group.
