Help!: sending route to garmin

    hello all I am cant seem to figure out how to send my route to my etrrex legend. is it possible? I want to map out my ride on the site and then follow it on my gps.

    You can download the GPX file and then load it using your Garmin software to your GPS. I have an Etrex Vista and tried for the first time last night. Since I'm on a Mac I'm a bit disadvantaged given Garmin's lack of Mac support, but I was able to download the GPX file from mapMyRide, and import into my device. First I had to tweak the XML header, though, because I was getting an error from my software. After loading, I discovered that the GPX file generated by mapMyRide is saved as a "track" in my GPS, not a "route", so it is not easy to do turn by turn navigation. After much trial and error, I discovered you can save the track as route and navigate, but I haven't tried it in the field yet (plan to today). A bit convoluted, to be sure, but that's one way. Would be great if MapMyRide could export a GPX using the Garmin route XML definition, but that is probably wishful thinking...

     If you can provide details on how you 'tweaked the header', I will look into implementing this.

    Hi all....Newbie question.  I have a "test route set up in MMR and I'm trying to upload it to my Garmin 650 (w/SD memory card).  Can anyone explain the process in simple terms?  (The same process gargoyle is attempting) Thanks!

    Hi i've just bought a 705 and have having simular problems downloading other people's rides into the unit.

    I too want to have direction prompts due to the fact i will be riding in unfamiliar terrain.

    I've tried pasting file into GPX folder hoping the ride would be 'Saved Rides', but this doesn't seem to work.

    Anyone had any luck with this?

    Can someone please give step by step directions how to download a map from mapmyride to the Garmin Edge 705 using a Mac like they were talking to a 3 year old?
