I would like to see a calculator for disctance when swimming. we need the option to pick yards or meters and have it calculate the yardage from the laps.

I like the idea, but I would have it convert the yards or meters into miles or km to be consistent with my bike and run workouts.

Even better--store different "pool" settings... The Harris YMCA is 25meters, so I cold enter 30 laps and get 1500meters. The MAC "long course" is 50 meters, so entering 30 laps would be 3000 meters. Or the open water swim at Lake Norma is 750 meters, so 2 laps is... etc etc.
You could even expand it to "tracks" too. Name the Blah High School track and just define it as 400 meters, or the indoor track at the Y is 1/16 of a mile.
Of course, you could probably already do this (mostly) when you are saving a workout. You could use google to convert your yards into miles, or you could try creating a reeeeealy short route on the map and saving it to your training. I think the only problem right now would be rounding error; I can create a route that covers a YMCA building that I think is the pool, but "0.01" miles is not going to help if I need 25 YARDS * 30 :)
Hah! Actually, try using the "Virtual Pedometer" ... You can enter 900 inches for stride length (that's 25 yards) and your number of laps. Enter 60 laps and you get 0.85 miles, which is correct. It's still not perfect, but where's there is a will there is a way :)

Another thing I would love to see is a way to print "cues".  Like on google map when you print directions.  It prints the map and written directions with mileage to each point.

I used the map function with the satellite view so that i could see the local pool.  I then made a route that was the length of the pool and made sure it was accurate (in my case, it's just a little tiny line that's 50m long).

Then when I do a swim routine I just point it at that route and say how many laps I did.

    Works great.

Great idea I've just been googling the conversion to miles it works but it is a hassle that would be nice to avoid.

go to google type in your swim distance then to miles

ex. type "2400 meters to miles" and google will convert it.

Currently I just use google, but I do see how a simple converter or a variation of units could be helpful.
