    Anyone have an inside line on an inexpensive place to buy GU or similar gels? I'm just getting into the distances that I need to be able to refuel during my runs, and am wondering what a good place/ good price to buy them. Any help would be aces. Dan

    If your looking to get off cheap then just use jello, it will do the same thing as any energy gel.

    Also, if you are eating and hydrating properly then there is no need for them unless you are running for over 90 min.

    That's just it, my runs are getting to the 90+ minute mark. I'm not so cheap that I have to resort to just eating jello (not to mention, that sounds pretty messy). Just looking for a deal is all.

    Target has a variety of gels and "power" foods like bars and jelly beans. I don't know if they are a lot cheaper, but they sell multi-packs and are more convenient than my local sporting goods store. They're in the pharmacy area in an aisle with nutrition supplements. Good luck.

    If you like Powerbar Gel, you can get it at Amazon for $16/24ct box including shipping if you sign up for subscription delivery (automatic shipping every month/2 months/whatever). You can sign up for more or less frequent delivery intervals.

    Also look for bulk packs. I buy the Leppin Squeezy (www.leppin.co.nz) in the 800ml bottle and decant it down to a small finger flask. Works out a bunch cheaper than buying the pre-measured plastic packed stuff. I need less than a full package most of the time so this also work well!
