When I attempt to print out a map of my routes the map does not show & comes up with the message "were sorry the data requested is unavailable. Please zoom out to see more map information or refresh your browser & try again" The map shows correctly on the screen but for some reason it will not print.

Further to my previous comment I suspect this has something to do with the source of maps for the print function vs the draw function. Looks like the print maps are Yahoo vs Google.

On my Australian & New Zealand Routes the maps do not display when the distance is short eg: 5kms & when they are longer eg: 20km the maps are inaccurate & show the route going through the ocean etc

I am in Australia and the map does not print with my run routes either.  I have tried 10km to about 15km routes but the map does not show at all.  Not sure why but the google vs yahoo change could be it I guess.  Have not found a work around so I guess this tool is pretty useless.

This was the comment that I received back from Jeff when I emailed him directly. It is frustrating, but hopefully it will change in time. When I printed it just printed the route with a red star in the middle, but with no map in the background.

    Hope this is of help

I'm sorry to inform you, but you live on the wrong side of the world :-(.  The map database we use for the print feature is different than the one we use for plotting your route, and it doesn't include maps for New Zealand.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi Everyone,

The print area is very weak -- We're doing it the way we are because of printing limitations in GoogleMaps.  The Google Team is working to fix the issue on their end but we wanted to be able to deliver some of this stuff right to you.  We know we have problems with zoom levels and some routes get cut off.  We also have problems with consistency between the Google Map and the Yahoo Map.

What I suggest is that you look at a route in the full screen mode and try experimenting with screenshots...

I apologize about this ... we're working on some better solutions to make this easier to use!

why wont the "milage markers" and "elevation" print on maps, even when I check the box, and say YES to both of those items?

Yeah, but what a DRAG!  The only reason I paid for a premium membership is to be able to print maps...I can't even find a "PRINT" button that works in any of my browsers.   Correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope that I am).  But I get to the "printable map preview" where I am given the choice of three map styles. But then there doesn't seem to be a way to print the bloody thing?  What am I missing?

    Jump Cut:

To print a map, click the Print Map functionality.  We have a host of different Print Templates to choose from and then you have a variety of options under Step 3) Advanced Options.

Print Template can be 3-fold sheets, overviews, or detailed segments w/ cue sheets (if the cue sheets are available for the route -- ie, if the user who created the map turned the option on to auto-generate, or the user created their own notes)

Options like include elevation profile, and much more.

To get started, select the template you want.  You will then be prompted to select the style.  You will then be prompted to select the Advanced Options. Then click Print!

When you say you cannot figure out hwo to get them to work, can you be more specific?  You can contact us directly using the Feedback Form and a Customer Service Team members will contact you ASAP

    Cheers,

(btw: the reason we require people to purchase print maps or be a premium member is because we provide PDF-quality maps using commercial licenses from MapQuest.  If you are looking for a plain-jane screenshot / print, you can always just take a screen capture and paste/print from Word / etc.)
