The forced migration from RouteSlip.com to Maymyride.com was a step backwards:
Navigation is awkward.
Total elevation ascended and descended does not calculate correctly - you have to download data into Excel to calculate.
The search for rides is nearly useless unless you know exactly which parameters to search for (and then it's not a search, is it?).
All of these things worked really well in Routeslip. Advertisers take note that this site needs a lot of work in order to retain users - and it could be really great.
I have to agree w/ you. I REALLY liked the way routeslip.com worked (when it worked). The elevation here is totally off. I also liked the way rs.c's reporting function worked. I'm also ticked that I can't get any of my old rs.c data from last year. I was really looking forward to measuring my performance this year vs. last year. I had tried several of the other route mapping programs out there, and ended up using rs.c because it fit my needs the best. mmr is not really fitting that need as well. Hopefully the people running this site will take note.
We should have all the RS data -- what are you looking for in particular?
Also, we're improving our mapping capabilities with the next version of the mapping tool which was put in place because of the need of cyclists... Send us a bullet-point list of what you're looking for and we'll see if we can fit it into our next rev!
I'm looking for my training log from last year on routeslip.com. I want ride, distance, time, avg. mph, total climb, ride date. Should all be there, if you guys have all the old data.
One of the things I really liked about RS.C was the climbing data. I liked tracking my miles vs. climbing. I really would like to measure my progress this year vs. last year.
I agree, finding routes by starting point was much better on routeslip. Some form of state by state and city by city browse would be a great feature.
Fixing some of the persistent bugs/issues that make creating routes difficult to impossible would also be a good idea, and higher in priority than adding new features. For example:
1. It would be nice to have a way to report bugs.
2. You're using auto-routing and auto-cues (in the new interface) and go down the road, passing Road X on the left. You go to the end of the road, turn around and come back, and now turn right on Road X. The recorded mileage may either be zero, or it may be the mileage the first time you passed Road X.
3. Retracing with auto-routing/auto-cues just doesn't work reliably.
4. You're signed in. You plot a route and try to save it -- and are sent to a login page. When you log in (again), you're asked if you want to reload your previous unsaved route. You say yes, and the route reloads, but all the cues are gone.
I don't understand the elevation data. Some of my routes total in the negative numbers? Routeslip would show total gained. This was nice when you wanted to compare routes to others.
Right now I'm looking at one of my saved (public) routes online, and other than the start symbol, there's no roads highlighted. If I click on milage markers, they appear, but still no roads highlights. This site continues to become less stable more clugey to use AND you want money for premium membership. Some kind of business model.
How about delivering a quality product and then asking for support?
