The feature appeared to execute the upload, but I could not grasp where to go next to save the upload as a ride. Please let me know - very cool feature.

    My difficulties are:

    1) Google maps are often out of date (I have a tri in Columbia, MO next week that uses streets that don't even appear on Google maps--I wanted to map out and check out the elevation profile in advance)

    2) I wish the map had design features like adobe where you have the hand to grab and move the map, or select the magnifying glass to zoom in and out. It is clumsy and difficult to navigate currently.

    3) the mapping tool sometimes defaults taking another path and the undo function isn't entirely clean--it will either not restore back to the last point, will leave little pieces in the middle of nowhere (without an eraser feature to scrub it), will add loops when you don't want it to, etc.

    4) the side panel pops open everytime a new length is added, even after you've instructed it to "hide panel"

    5) the narrative instructions in the side panel are not helpful

Adding the feature to follow the roads is great, having the elevation profile is excellent, and finding new rides by area and type (bike, run, etc.) is fantastic.

Just some thoughts--I like the tool, but it appears to need some tightening up.

    geezer-

After importing your route, you can click the 'save' button to save the route and workout to your proile- I hope this helps!

    Rhino1-

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I will try to address your questions individually:

    1)  Out of date maps: We are aware that the google maps are not always up to date, but are you aware that we offer multiple map types?  In addition to the standard streep maps, we have sattelite, topo, and terrain views.  Often, if a street is not visible in the street view, it is in one of the other ones, so I encourage you to try it.  You can change the map type at the lower-left corner of the map, or in the "map settings" section.

    2) "Grab and move the map": This UI functionality is supported, you should be able to grab and move the map with all versions of our tool.  If you go to the help section, you can see some tutorial videos that show this functionality.  Note that the tutorials currently show videos of the old version of the mapping tool, but the "grab and move the map" functionality is the same in this version.  Additionally, we will be adding tutorial videos with the new map technology soon

    3) "Undo" functionality: We have addressed some bug reports in this area, and most of these types of issues are fixed.  There are still some issues with some cases that we are working to address.

    4)  "side panel pops open": This is not an issue that we've seen before, and I would like to try and correct this if you're still experiencing it.  What operating system and browser are you using?

    5)  We are constantly working to improve our online help text and features

Thanks again for the valuable feedback.

jeff - thanks for your advice. I hve an issue - personal or otherwise. Running XPpro/Firefox. Symptom is that after what appears to be a successful upload from an edge705, the next display is a blank google map of the world. When I invoke the save tab, I am told I must plot a route before i can save it.  Reinstalled Garmin Communicator to be sure all is in order ...  verified theough the test page. I note others  appear to have had similar issues.  What am I missing?

    Thanks again.

Resolved - my ignorance ... of course an upload from the garmin storage card would be too easy ... the file format is wrong because you are looking for a .gpx file, not a .tcx. Suggestion - if practical, add an error message to the effect that .tcx is not supported but .gpx is, or similar. It would have eliminated my post, your time, etc.

I admire your work and responsiveness, Jeff. Cool
