I'm kind of a casual runner, I run 1-2 times a week mostly just for fun. Sometimes I run w/ my friend that lives close by and last time we went out he let me try some Perfect Water he brought along. That water man, I've never pushed myself that hard! I had power and stamina like never before! And sometimes my lower back gets hurting on long runs, but it didn't bother me at all! He explained how Perfect Water is unlike anything else out there, thru years of research and development they really have come up w/ the Perfect Water. haha it sounds cheesy but It's true! he said there's 5 steps they go thru to make it, as outlined on their official site www.drinkperfectwater.com:

    1) thru different processes they filter the water 15 TIMES! To ensure they start w/ the purest water possible. Pure H20.

    2) After they take everything else out, they re-mineralize the water, they put minerals back in like potassium, magnesium, calcium, mostly for taste they say, and electrolytes. Good stuff!

    3) They IONIZE it to have the PH of 8-8.5 I've never heard of ph balances of foods but after doing some research it turns out that having that alkaline balance is really beneficial to your health. wikipedia it.

    4) Here's where it starts to get really cool, they've figure out a way to MICRO-STRUCTURE the water, they somehow make the water molecules smaller, so the water is able to travel in and out of your cells quicker, the result of which is more rapid and effective hydration.

    5) Then finally the somehow infuse the water with oxygen, they call it MBO or molecular bound oxygen. My friend explained that the oxygen will never leave the water! if you leave the bottle open it won't go flat like carbonation or something, it's IN THERE! it is bound to the micro-structured water, and it travels w/ the water all throughout your body to your muscles, in a matter of seconds, it's amazing the results this stuff gets!

My friend went on to tell me that it's not available in stores, but here's the site where he orders it from, it's www.scorpius.mychoices.biz

It's only 1.99 a bottle, which is what I was paying for vitamin water, psh see ya! I'm drinkin Perfect Water from now on! Ya GOTTA check it out! See ya on the trail!

I select my bottled water based on the bottle. I will drink the water only once...but I will refill the bottle with tap for 3 months! I also have a very special treatment process for my water...stick it in the frig.!

I think he's making fun of people who buy bottled water, or vitamin water.

And they deserve to be made fun of.

Actually, I think he is talking about the product called "Perfect Water". I'm not sure who the original brain trust behind the whole idea is, but it is a Quixtar/amway product now. They claim it's the magical cure all water. I had the pleasure of being introduced to it this weekend. Phantasmagoria did a pretty good job explaining it... or at least describing it the only way I've heard it described, which isn't very well. They tend to leave out a lot of details when explaining the process and the reasoning behind it. From what I've gathered though, they filter it a bunch and then they go and add the things they just filtered out of it. Then they somehow add oxygen and at the some time shrink the water molecules so they absorb into your body faster! It's magic I tell ya!!!! If you ever have the opportunity to have someone "show" you how it works I would highly recommend going through with they're demonstration. It's really eye opening! First they have you try to touch your toes, which for me has been an impossibility for about 25 years now. Then they have you stand with your feet together, arms at your side and they push down on your cupped hand while you try to maintain your balance, which isn't easy to do. Then they have you take a drink of normal every day tap water and have you do the same two things. Amazingly enough there is no change, although I do think I got about 1/2 of a millimeter closer to my toes. Then comes the big shocker! They pull out the Perfect Water! They have you drink this magic elixir, and they tell you to touch your toes! And by golly, I got about 1/2 millimeter closer than the time before!!!! AMAZING! Then they did the balance test! And wouldn't you know it they had to push HARDER to pull me off balance!!!! (okay, if you say so) This stuff is great, order me 45 cases!!!!! All that glorious stuff happened within 30 seconds of drinking the water! Just think if I drank about 85 bottles in a row I might be able to actually almost touch my toes again!!! I'm sure that the reason I got closer the third time around (even though it was barely noticeable) had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I stretched out my hamstrings twice before that. I'm sorry Mr. Phantasmagoria I don't buy it. I'm pretty sure if there was a way to make perfect water, Gatorade would have discovered it long before now. That however, is just my opinion. If it works for you, more power to ya! Although, I would suggest that you watch the movie "Kronk's New Groove", by Walt Disney. It has a great message about the power of suggestion and the effects on the human mind. But don't come cryin' to us when all your friends are running around naked and your sitting in a big ol' mansion on top of a hill. (Someone's gonna get that and get a pretty good chuckle, although maybe not)

hey, everybody has the right to make a buck but.... this is obviosly a Quixtar (Amway) distributor come on.  All the products on the website are Amway. Now, being from Grand Rapids, I am understand  that the founders of Amway and their families have done a lot of good  in our community, I'm just not sure the sales tactics are honest.

All I can say is don't take anyone's word for it, not even mine, & try it for yourself. If you buy two cases they ship for free, and they've got a 180 day full money back guarantee, no questions asked. Try it out, and if it doesn't do anything for you just return it and get your money back. But it's definitely worth at least trying for yourself before you blow it off don't ya think?

I spent too many years as a chem major in college and working in a research lap to swallow (pun intended) this bunk.  You can't make water molecules 'smaller' (at least under normal atmospheric conditions), simple physics.  Also, you can't get water to bind oxygen (again, under normal conditions), it's just not what it does, chemically speaking.

So no, it's not worth trying.  Perfect water?  Probably not.  Perfect snake oil? Maybe.

But wait, there's more!! After you drink it you can fly!!! Have a friend make a video of you running after you drink Perfect Water and you will be amazed!! You'll see yourself suspended in mid-air, both feet off the ground for seconds at a time!! Covering distances in the air that can be measured in hundreds of millimeters!!

You can't make water molecules smaller

Yeah, that was my first thought, and my molecular physics knowledge ended at high school and some self study. Basic principle, there.

I suspect that they just take the bottles out behind the building and fill them with water from the hose. Perhaps it does have an effect, though. After all, the placebo effect can be pretty strong when people honestly believe in the cure, right? ;-)

My general thought on these "miracle" products is that if they were so awesome, the companies would be handing out samples like candy. If it were as effective as claimed, you'd not be able to resist buying more as it would be a deal at any price.

I'll stick with my coffee and my iced green tea, thanks! Caffeine gives me plenty of extra kick.

You may try smart water.. I believe they add vitamins to it, and the water itself is sugar free. If you're looking for something flavored, Dasani makes some pretty good flavored water w/o sugar... or you can just make some sugar free kool-aid and use that.

AAAAAHHHHH!  I'm sick of this Perfect Water stuff! It's so lame, they say that it has been filtered x amount of times and so it's the most pure water that you can drink. No it isn't! If you think for some reason that you really need your water super pure, then just get distilled water, or you know what, just get sterilized water, it's almost the same price.

Just drink tap water, it's good for you, it's better for the environment, and it's cheap! Stop drinking bottled water! It's a waste of resources. -rant off-

You might as well try h2ohm a new water apparently just out on the market (perhaps in the UK). The water is blessed, and told positive things before it gets bottled, the bottles are stroked and all is treated with some 'good vibrations'. If you think nice thoughts while you drink it then positive things will happen to you! Plus you get very clean chakras.

I'm just happy that somebody finally stepped into the breach left by the original VitaminWater - the UNsweetened kind - and is making flavored water w/no sweeteners.  It's marketed under the name Hint, but I just found it at Target under their house brand name, Archer Farms.  Great stuff, zero calories, comes in several fruit flavors, as well as cucumber (is that really a fruit?) and mint - I particularly like the starfruit/tropical version.  Lots of flavor and no fake sweeteners, woohoo!

44 ounces of well water, squeze two lemons, two oranges, 4 tbls of raw sugar, 1/2 tsp sea salt.  50 ounces is enough for 3 hours of running.

Oh there is such thing as water with extra oxygen...

it's called hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Not sure I'd drink it for an extra energy boost, and I'm sure the extra Oxygen atom would make the molecule larger.  Hydrogen Peroxide is 97% water, 3% hydrogen peroxide because its a high risk to your health, even causing death.

  6.
    D-Jammer68

Hey, here's a made up scientific explaination (CAUTION -- I'm just making this stuff up!)

Although I opted out of atomic and nuclear physics, I think that the way they must shrink the H20 molecule is by adding energy to the water in order to make the electrons jump back to a lower atomic orbit. This also tightens the bond between the hydrogen and oxygen so that they only way to keep the molecules together is to add in oxygen molecules between each water molecule! Then when you drink the oxygenated water, the molecules are quickly absorbed into your cells thus reacting with your natural enzymes (ok, I'm really stretching here). Then the molecule expells the excess energy to EXPLODE back to its original size! That excess energy causes a burst that will literally knock your socks off! Unless you happen to be running down the road, at which point get ready to set an new PR!

Too bad for me that I'm so cheap I follow the "refill the bottle with tap water" theory. Ok, I run the water through a Brita filter, mainly just for taste.

The filtered tap water thing is good, but ionized water is better.  Don't wikipedia it, do research on it.  While I don't think that the "Perfect Water" is the solution, ionized water may be.  Since I've been using it (6 weeks now), I don't have any more lactic acid build up.  My legs are still tired from a hard workout, but they aren't sore like they used to be.  It makes sense, alkanize your water from it's acidic state and any acid that builds up from strenuous exercise flushes out of your body instead of sitting in your muscles for 24-48 hours.  Not to mention the fact that diseases grow in an acidic state and cannot exist where the acidity is low.

I found out a secret about this "perfect water" that they didn't want you to know about!  It turns out when they bonded the water and oxygen molecules, they started having molecular intercourse and reproduce other water and oxygen molecules!  They call this process PWR, Perfect Water Reproduction... They didn't catch this because the combined intercourse and gestation period is about 3 months and they never had a sample around that long to study the long term effects of this fusion!  So yes, that means you only have to buy 1 bottle, keep it for a few months and have empty water bottles ready to fill!

Hydration is a way of life, not something you decide to do the day before, or the morning of a workout...  Either you decide "I'm an athlete, I better become a hydrated person" (by drinking the right amount of water based on your body mass) - or you don't, and buy into the lies.  I personally need to drink 4 to 6 bottles of water a day, I bring 1 bottle of water for every hour i'm going to be out on the bike, and I drink Accelerade when i'm done (for the sodium and protien) to replace the sodium i just sweat out and to aid in muscle recover, then I eat a chipotle chicken burrito :)

PS: Make sure you read the fine print on the "Perfect Water" bottle, you are NOT to resale the water you accumulate from the result of PWR

http://www.chem1.com/CQ/ionbunk.html At least that makes sense to me and what I was taught in college chemistry. 6 weeks of training and you body should have adjusted to not cramping up, at least I would hope, and not be as sore. Please give yourself the credit for improving your fitness level not bow down to a gimmick. Just a couple of notes, water is PH 7, neutral, not naturally acidic as implied. And I don't understand the validity of the acidity and disease comment. Nothing lives in less than a PH of 4. Also just because you drink something with a different PH doesn't mean that your PH level in your body is going to change. Case in point acids in your stomach are around a PH of 2, your blood PH is around 7ish, the body is not going to fluctuate its PH level depending on what you eat or drink or else your body would have a PH around 2 all the time, well if your an Alien that might be the case ;). Your body has a complicated balancing system that keeps everything in check, and is not going to be fooled by a marketing gimmick. Oh and by the way can we please KILL THIS THREAD it is really annoying.

One more comment before we "KILL THIS THREAD " as Mr. Spudsmac would like to.  Ignorance is bliss unless it leads others astray.  My point here is to educate, not convince others.  If you would like to blindly trust the government, doctors and pharmaceutical companies out there do treat you right, that is your business.  If not, and you are concerned about your health now and in the future (I would assume you are or you wouldn't get out there and run each day), read on.  Oh, by the way, I will think the Perfect Water is crap and nothing more than a profit scheme.  My point is to educate you on the benefits of ionized water.  As a response to Mr. Spudsmac's eloquent, but misleading comments, here are my rebuttals:

Lets get more precise.  You said "Your blood PH is around 7ish,"  For a grown up, it likes to be at about 7.365.  at 7.0 or lower, you end up in a coma and will die if you do not  get it positive fast.  7ish would seem to assume as  long as its around 7 even less then, you are ok, and that's not true.

You said "Nothing lives in less than a PH of 4." I wish athletes foot wouldn't.. however with a +ORP of around 1000 I have had success at killing it off with 2.5 PH water.
You then said. " the body is not going to fluctuate its PH level depending on what you eat or drink or else your body would have a PH around 2 all the time, well if your an Alien that might be the case :)."
I have no idea why you would assume this nor your point however you then said " Your body has a complicated balancing system that keeps everything in check, and is not going to be fooled by a marketing gimmick. "
Yes, it does, and that's why this is extremely important.  Your body will maintain the PH of the blood to keep you alive, regardless of what it has to do to keep it that way.  It will use minerals from your bones, teeth, and other organs to counter act acidity in the blood.  It will take acid salts out of the blood and put them in your joints, fat, it will store it in glands, and cells and the fluid that surrounds them.  This can cause serious health issues.  So over simplifying makes it so... simple.
And finally you said "At least that makes sense to me and what I was taught in college chemistry. 6 weeks of training and you body should have adjusted to not cramping up, at least I would hope, and not be as sore. Please give yourself the credit for improving your fitness level not bow down to a gimmick"
As a runner for years, please give me credit for knowing the difference between cramping up and fitness level, and the soreness you get from lactic acid build up.
