     Return to:  Virtual Tour Group

When it comes to a Virtual Tour what would you say are the significant mile marker acheivements? 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, each 1000 from there up?

For those of you who curiously stumble opun this thread check out the group to find out what a Virtual Tour is.

Thats a tough question. My initial run is only 300miles. So, in my case, probably 50 mile intervals would be good.

But for those that bike primarily, they chew up 50miles in 2 days, so it would seem logical to put markers every 100-200mi for them.

Tough call. I'd say 50 & 100mi markers up to 500miles, then 100mi intervals up to 1000miles, then go to 200mi intervals from there. At least give it a shot and see what happens.

Do let us know what you think up.

I'm working on making some signatures for group members that would look something like this:

    Photobucket

In the upper right would be the most recent significant mile marker. And there is room to add awards as they are earned.

    Feedback please.

I'd say do an escalating plan.  Like 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, etc.  I wouldn't know what that would equate to for the bikers.

jairadballerina has a good suggestion. Just an escalating plan and that'll have to work. It just seems that those that solely run would be at a dissadvantage. You'll almost need two ranges.

But I do like the sig line you set up. That looks really good. Thanks for the work you've been putting into this.

Just out of curiosity, how often do you want us to update our maps? I was planning on updating mine on Fridays for no apparent reason. That'll add on average 25-35 to my total each week. What say you?

Looking at your sig a little closer, you could make one mile marker scale as mentioned, then where you have a shoe icon, change it for the activities people have been logging miles with. So, runners get the shoe, bikers get a bike or tire, and swimmers can get a swimmer or something...

At least that way, we'd know from the sig how the participant is racking up miles and won't be so let down if the number is 600 biking and we're at 250 running.

I like the idea between shoes/tires/swimmers identified by a picture.  Also make those different color palettes.  You have blue for runners, so say orange for bikers, green for swimmers or however.  Nothing fancy but like what you have going there.

    Great suggestions guys.

As far as updating goes I will leave that up to you. I will begin working on May's global map sometime next week which is basically just a snapshot of where everyone is based on their updated maps so...

I like the color scheme idea you have. I'll see what I can get accomplished on that.

And I actually already have the other sports icon ready to go.

I want to incorporate something to do with your knee in your sig since I think that it is really great that you haven't let that stop you from being active. Would you mind that terribly?
