Anybody have tips for running while pushing a jogging stroller. It just feels so awkward...

I've run with my kids for a couple of years, here's what I've found...

First, a good quality stroller will help a lot - weight and how straight it rolls are the main factors. Second, try just using one hand to push the stroller and run with the other - it helps make it feel a little more natural.  Finally, the more you do it, the less awkward it will feel - it will get to be more natural.

    Good luck!

To make sure your baby jogger tracks as true as possible, make sure to check the tire pressure.  Inflate so that all are full and even pressure.

If one tire, especially one rear tire is low, the jogger will not track a straight line and you will constantly have to fight the stroller to re-adjust to your intended course.

Also, if your roads are "crowned", that is, higher in the middle than on the edges to promote rain runoff, that can affect your strollers handling.

I found a jogging stroller that can adjust the handle-bar up or down. I fit it perfectly to myself, then tethered myself to the stroller with a 4' strap (some strollers come with them). That way, I don't have to be holding on to the stroller constantly, while still maintaining control of it.

I'll also try to run a bit to the side of the stroller if the road angle permits. It makes me feel freer of its constraints. But the previous commenter is right -- it mostly just takes some getting used to! Good luck!

I agree that it takes time but it will soon come naturally.  For me,  I struggled with "hunching" forward and disrupting my normal running posture.  This would invariably cause tightness in my lower back.   An adjustable handle-bar and a tether helps a lot but, more importantly, just focusing on keeping my normal running posture is key for me. Good luck.    Oh yeah...I wish I purchased a stroller with two cup holders. One for your water and one for your kid's juice cup.

    Senk,

Not to make a plug, but...

Chariot sells an accessory bottle holder and kids bottle holder that works on other stroller brands as well. It's called the Chariot "Hydration Kit" and has a bicycle style bottle cage that clamps onto the cross/handle bar, a large bicycle type water bottle and a smaller clamp with kiddie bottle.

It works great on my Baby Jogger brand stroller and should work on others such as Bob, Burley, etc..
