MMF are you listening to any of this? Or have you decided to just ignore us and hope we all go away?
Why is it that we can't get a response from you guys anymore?
1. You can get every function from this site still free in the internet. Why should I pay? Give me a reason. Give me an outstanding function which I desperatley need and cant find elsewhere and I will pay for it.
2. Don't hijack my data (training logs). Thats an extremly bad style. The worst thing you can do. And if you really want to hijack the data make it better since I can still get my complete trining log the "scripting way"...
3. Don't ignore this thread or more and more people will ignore you.
4. Have a look on other "Web 2.0" sites and recognize how they make money. Don't try to make money the "oldscool" way.
Just my 2 cents and sorry for my bad english...
5. Ah, I forgott to say that I lead a lot of people to this site. Do you think there will be a single user who will do this in the feature? "Hey this site is cool but you must add your training logs twice (excell sheet) if you dont wont to pay...
This morning I decided to sign up for Premium Membership. I really love this site and I spend a lot of time here. I've experience lots of problems this month, but I hope my joining is seen as a vote of confidence that they will get things working again.
I agree things went badly in the transition from free to fee. Some recognition for the pre-fee users who built the community would have been nice, like a couple months of premium membership to see what we're getting -- or losing, like exporting training data. Changing to a buggy route engine at the same time seems like a huge mis-step. Maybe a plea to the community for PayPal donations to "keep the site going" would have been a better approach.
The Web 2.0 comment makes me laugh, though - nobody knows how to monetize Web 2.0! I assume MMF tried to make a go of this through advertising alone and couldn't.
What I don't get is the sense of entitlement a lot of people here seem to have. Yes, it is your data. If you don't think MMF adds value, then stick with Excel (OMG - do you know Microsoft charges $ for Excel?).
In addition to MMF, I upload data from my GPS (for which I paid $$$) to motionbased (owned by Garmin, to which I paid that $$$), and they only let me re-visit my last 10 routes unless I join and pay them even more. So far, I haven't decided their value-add is worth it.
IMO all the most useful MMF features are still available in the free membership. I'm certainly hoping my premium membership pays off somehow. But for now, I do want to keep the site going, and I want MMF to know that my bug reports and my complaints come from a paying customer.

Hi Everyone,
Yesterday we released a much more stable version of the mapping tool that is optimized for longer routes -- That means that your 100 mi ride that you've been having trouble viewing (ie, missing route lines, no markers, etc.) should be displaying fine.
We also changed the route engine to display the route as a red line -- there were international users complaining that the original colors (blue, green) were hard to see on the map because of the local styles (see Europe, Japan). What color do you guys think would work best?
Today or tomorrow morning we're hoping to release the cue sheets print view for the routes -- foldable 3-way prints, segment details, more customization options. Artur has a post about this in the forums if you want to see some previews.
Steve: submit specific bugs that you find to our Feedback system -- this way we can address any specific issues. Would having our bug list and product development roadmap be transparent to users be a better way to convey where we are?
We're a small, boot-strap team here so it's hard to stay on top of all the forums, etc. so I apologize for not being more proactive here. I'll check out these forums more often going forward...
Thanks Guys (and Gals),
-Kevin

How about a control where we pick the color? (tell me you didn't see that coming!)

I've been using the feedback system, but sometimes you and your guys seem to respond more quickly to forum posts.

Absolutely! I might be biased, though - I work in open source software development, so I think your source code should be out there so we can help you fix bugs and work on features too!
