    I've been running for about 4 months, steadily improving but just now dealing w/ a mild case of runner's knee.  I know that issue will most likely go away as I continue to run and build up a "base".  Does anyone know (from experience) about how long it takes to build up your base?

    depends upon what your "base" will be as it will take less time to build to a 20 mpw base than to build to a 40 mpw base.

     With a modest 10% per week increase and a 3hard, 1 easy week progression,  you can double your weekly volume in about 19 weeks.

     I have hit 20 over the past 2 weeks, which I plan to hold to the end of the month before moving up some.  I started in June, so about 12 weeks with one off for injury.
