Running Routes: Edit and Save Other User's routes as your own

Hi folks, I am new to the website just today and I'm finding it really valuable.  I was curious if there was a way to view/edit another user's route.  Let me explain...

 We have a beautiful lake in our immediate area that I think other's must have mapped using a GPS because you cannot see the sidewalks in the satellite view because of the trees.  I wanted to just see the route around the Lake, but no one has done that.  Then, add to that my jog from my home to the lake.

 Is there any way to do that?
