I don't have a 3G iPhone, just the original 8Gb version that came out.  I would love to use the iPhone app to enter my workouts manually instead of requiring entry through the "record" function.  Can you add a backward compatible manual entry function for the millions of original iPhones in use?  I don't carry my iPhone with me when I work out (see below).

Also, as a bonus for those still reading this post, were you aware that excessive moisture can kill an iPhone and void the warranty?  It can.  I had my first iPhone start acting up with a the touch interface going screwy and not responding.  Over the course of a few days, it became unusable.  I took it to the Apple store and had a Genius look at it.  First thing he did was stare down the headphone hole with a flashlight.  Seems there is a moisture indicator in there that turns red when the phone gets wet.  I used to carry my iPhone in a pocket in my running shorts and the accumulated salty sweat coming into the phone caused the  the screen to act up.  My moisture indicator was a "dark pink" according to the Genius who at first wasn't going to repair/replace it and walked me through the warranty exclusion for water in the phone.  After some discussion and a chat with the manager, he agreed that it has been pretty humid in Central Ohio and that he would replace it under warrantly "just this once" but that I had to work harder to keep the phone dry. I now use my old 30Gb iPod video until I can get a new 16Gb iPod Nano.

For those using your iPhones on the run/ride, keep 'em VERY dry.

    Hi Mike-

Thanks for the tipsre: moisture!  We recommend sport-style armbands when using your iPhone while working out, and we should have some available for sale shortly.

As for iPhone 1G users, along with the iPhone app, mapmyrun.com and mapmyride.com are now optimized for use with iPhone browsers, including the iPhone 1G.  This will allow you mapmyrun and mapmyride mobile (sans GPS of course).

     enjoy,

    jeff

You know, I dig this site. I think it's a great resource, and has a lot of potential. That being said, your iPhone optimized versions are pretty poor. In order to add a workout, you have to go to the full site? What's the point? There should be a shiny button that says "ADD WORKOUT MARK" (the mark is optional, I have a huge ego) that allows me to enter a workout to my account. Seriously, what purpose would there be to list my workouts on my iPhone?

PS: holding my tounge about having to pay to get my messages. Just saying that's why classmates.com sucks and facebook was successful.
