I just added some new people to the list, so please refer to the original email below. Also, here are some details I left out: The run from RRS on Aug. 31 starts at 8 a.m. and is free. The Sportbands are being raffled off (two per week) at the Wednesday runs. They're not being given to everyone. You must provide your own Nike+ equipment. The Sportband costs $60 or the receiver kit for your iPod (nano only) costs $30. If you have a Nike+ shoe, you can put the chip underneath the left shoe insole. Otherwise you can buy a pouch/holder online to attach the chip to your shoelaces.

What's up, friends? Welcome to those of you new to my email list. Make sure to check running.meetup.com/134 for more details on the Road Runner Sports Wednesday Group Run and other unaffiliated free group runs.   This month we've been using the Wednesday run as a training run for the Nike Human Race, a 10k on Sunday, Aug. 31. The details have been a bit fuzzy about that run, but they're finally becoming clearer. It will be the biggest sporting event ever with more than 1 million people participating around the world. There will be 25 main host cities, the closest being LA, where Nike will hold a big event.   Here's what you need to know:   We're giving away Nike Sportbands, which use the Nike+ technology to track your pace and distance, at the Wednesday run this month. Also, I'm holding all of the raffle entries for the month and using them to raffle off a pair of Nike shoes at the end of the month.   For the race itself, you can go up to LA, you can just run on your own with your Nike+ technology (Sportband or iPod) and then upload your info to nikeplus.com or you can find a local host site. Road Runner Sports will be a local host site. If you're going to run with us, you might register here: https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=G62V9K7   Two important things to note about running with us:   1. You must run with Nike+ technology. The whole point of the run is for everyone to upload their info to nikeplus.com to have proof of the number of participants across the world.   2. We will not have police support for the course that morning, so, depending on the number of entrants, we might run 12+ loops around the RRS facilities. Otherwise, we will run a couple of loops in the neighborhood, trying to avoid traffic as much as possible. We will have a water station or two and volunteers out on the course. If you're going to run with us, look at the event as an opportunity to participate in something massive and groundbreaking for the global running community instead of a chance at PR. Chances are our course will not be conducive to the event being a race as much as a fun run.   Feel free to email me with any questions.   -Garrett

6/30/08 Hello, good friends! Just wanted to update you on this week's run. We're doing another predictor run, meaning you run without a watch or iPod, predict your 5 mile time before the run and run at your normal conversational pace like every week. The top male and female closest to their prediction will win Saucony shoes. You can run on Wednesday with your iPod, but you won't be eligible for the shoes.   If you don't have a Frequent Runner Card, see me at the next run and I'll give you one. After 10 runs, you can stop by the store to pick up some free schwag or get a discount. I'm still finalizing the details, so if your card is full, hold onto it. It'll be worth the wait.   If you're new to my email list, check out the website http://running.meetup.com/134 to find out more info about the Road Runner Sports runs on Wednesdays and other free group runs during the week.   See you Wednesday,   Garrett

Hello my friends. Big stuff happening this week at the Wednesday night run. It's the last run for Danielle Weiss before she moves up to the Bay Area. If you have run with her before, make sure to be there Wednesday to say goodbye. We're raffling away two pairs of Saucony shoes and a Nike pair this week. You'll get one raffle entry for being there Wednesday night and one for each of the three previous weeks if you were there. I'm using the honor system, so if you were there any of those Wednesdays, show up this week to let me know. I'll take your word for it. I'll also have some other goodies to give away.   If anyone is feeling generous, I'd like to give some publicity to a good cause (the Children's Tumor Foundation) that one of our group members, Danny, is running to support, specifically Neurofibromatosis. Check out his webpage for details:  http://www.active.com/donate/nfSanDiegoRnR2008/denlow1   For anyone who is new to this email list, check the following website for more info on the Road Runner Sports run and other casual group runs during the week: http://running.meetup.com/134   Mahalo, Garrett

read Free running clinics at RRS
by: TonyBone - May 14 2008, 11:13AM
What's up guys? Just wanted to send a reminder on the nutrition clinics we're having the next two nights (7 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday night in the back of the main Road Runner Sports store) and give you some more info. The clinics are focused on products (gels, sports drink mixes, bars, etc.) to be used before, during and after running. If you're running Rock N Roll, it would be a great time to make sure you have your nutrition plan squared away before the race. Even if you're not running the marathon, it's a great opportunity to get acquainted with the different products. We'll have a variety of nutrition and gear available for you to try and we'll also be offering a clinic night only discount (VIP members will also get their normal 10% off). If you have any questions, feel free to email me back. gsheehan@roadrunnersports.com  -Garrett

What's up, guys? We have some clinics coming up the next few weeks at Road Runner Sports, specifically geared towards people running Rock N Roll. The clinics will be held on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 p.m. the next few weeks and focus on nutrition, apparel and injury prevention (post race). Check out the attached flyer for more info. The clinics will be held in the store. Our address if 5553 Copley Dr. I will be giving the Thursday night clinics. For those of you who can't make the Wednesday night group run, but do have time for the clinic, my coworker and good friend Jon Beck will be giving the Wednesday clinics.   Mahalo, Garrett

How goes it, friends? First of all, I wanted to remind you that it's Saucony night tomorrow. Make sure to show up and get one last raffle entry for some free shoes.   Speaking of vendors, we have Nike on board and they'll be giving away some free stuff. I believe we'll be giving some Nike shoes later this month. So make sure to show up, and most importantly GET ON MY ATTENDANCE LIST! If you think I might have missed you, make sure to email me later to see if you got on there.   Anyone looking to run the Rock N Roll Marathon but not have an entry yet? I have a free one. Email me if you're interested.   Also, we're looking for volunteers for our water station at Rock N Roll. It would be a great way to view the race if you're not running it. You can sign up here: http://www.elitevolunteer.com/er/signup_form1.php?event_id=152&group_id=671   For everyone new to my email list, check out the meetup.com site for more info about the Road Runner Sports Group Run and other free local runs: http://running.meetup.com/134/   Any questions? Feel free to email me back.   Mahalo, Garrett  gsheehan@roadrunnersports.com

read Are there any runners in Sorrento Valley/Mesa
by: S3a0tt3r - Feb 23 2008, 12:45AM
I work on the Canyon Ridge in Sorrento Mesa and try to run 2-3 times a week during lunch. I've often thought of starting a group specifically for Sorrento Valley/Mesa, but think that it could be a sub groups of this one. Can this site support "sub" groups?  -- Grant
